Life isn’t easy and it can be a very harsh, mean and unfair place. The road to your dreams is quite bumpy and there are many things that will stand in your way. People will tell you that you can’t do it; some will tell you that you shouldn’t do it; and others will even make sure that you won’t do it. Many will laugh at you and will try to bring you down. No matter how tough you try to be, life will find a way to push you down, put you in situations you can’t handle, send you holes to fall in. Unexpected distractions or barriers will come your way and try to deviate your mind from your goals. Luck may not always be on your side, and at times, you may feel that the whole universe is against you.
You’ll get laughed at, you’ll get back-stabbed, you’ll get stuck, you’ll get discouraged, you’ll get distracted, you’ll get tested, you’ll stumble, you’ll fall, you’ll get lost, you’ll get scared, you’ll get hurt, you’ll get beaten, you’ll get blocked, you’ll get angry, and sometimes you’ll get hit really hard.
But remember in life you always have a choice. You can either cave in and let what others say or do get to you, believe them and convince yourself that you’re not good enough. When you get hit hard, you can choose to lay on the ground, give up, turn your back on all your dreams, and blame everyone else for not being who you want to be.
Or you can choose to stand back up on your feet and let each obstacle make you stronger and more determined. When you get hit hard, you can choose to fight back and keep going. Because it’s not how hard you get hit or how much you get hit that counts. It’s what you learn from each hit and each fall, how much you can take and how high you keep rising after each hit. There’s a Japanese proverb that says “Fall down seven times, Get up eight.”
It’s always much easier to give up and blame others for our unhappiness. But fighters don’t choose the easy way out.
Be a fighter. Don’t let any barriers or hit knock you down. Don’t ever let anyone tell you what you can or cannot do. And don’t let anyone define your capabilities and tell you what you’re worth. Only you know what you’re really made of and what you’re capable of. If you want something, go get it. No matter what people say and no matter how many times you fall along the way, or how hard you get hit.
